In Northern Wisconsin, many working families just can’t keep up.

In the last 50 years the costs of housing, healthcare, childcare, transportation, and college or post-high school education have all risen dramatically faster than wages. The fact is that Republicans and Democrats in Congress both share responsibility for 50 years of affordability failure.

There is no reason the wealthiest country in the world should live with the most expensive health care in the world, that leaves millions without coverage, while insurance companies reap record profits. We CAN do better and we have to. 

As a candidate and as a former legislator I have firmly supported women’s freedom to make choices about reproductive care with their doctors, and I have consistently supported funding and access to a full range of reproductive health care for women of all ages including contraception.

With our clean lakes, healthy forests, and small towns, Northern Wisconsin has all the fundamentals for a stable, vibrant economy where everyone can prosper. It’s time we made economic policy in Washington that lets us all do better here at home. 

The farms and forests of Northern Wisconsin are the backbone for our economy and our way of life. Today more than ever, our farmers and forest owners need opportunities to adapt to changing times and develop new sources of revenue.

We need a smarter immigration policy that keeps our border secure and addresses criminal activity, while allowing safe entry and humane treatment for legal immigrants to help meet the demands of American businesses and allow for a prosperous cross-border economy.

The United States Constitution has been a blueprint for democracy for America and for the World. But no constitution can guarantee the vision of its founders unless leaders do their part to uphold it. Today the guarantees of our U.S. Constitution are at risk. 

Artificial intelligence and the technology that drives it has tremendous potential to remake and improve our society and our lives. We can only realize those benefits however by taking a strong public oversight of this technology and how it is built out.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the technology that drives it has tremendous potential to remake and improve many aspects of our society and our lives. But without adequate guardrails, AI also creates huge new risks for all of us.  We can only capture the opportunities and benefits of AI with effective government oversight and that needs to happen now.
